Mt. Washington Open! Helter Skelter Downhill Race Sunday, Sept 20th
Registration is open now and online payment is now available, payment links are provided after registration! The Mt. Washington Open Downhill Race is here this fall to celebrate the mountain biking culture ever-present on Vancouver Island. New trails are open this month and with the Bike Park in operation weekends through September 27th, the summer stoke around the resort is at an all-time high. Physical distancing practices will be followed and most aspects of the event will take place outside in the fresh air. For everyone's health and safety, face masks will be mandatory for participants and other best practices as recommended by the BC Provincial Health Officer will be in place. Saturday, September 19th
- 4:00 – 6:00 pm - Pick up plates and sign waivers at the ZipTour Center Demo Centre.
- Please wear a face covering at all times, and maintain physical distancing from those outside your group
- Race payment open till noon of the 19th, payment links are provided after registration!
Sunday, September 20th
- 10:00 am - 12:00 pm – Course open for training
- 12:00 pm – Beginner Start – Max 40 participants, starting from middle Helter Skelter off of Greenline
- 12:45 pm – Intermediate Start– Max 40 participants, starting from Top of Helter Skelter by Hawk Chair
- 1:30 pm – Update: Expert Start @ 12:45 pm with Intermediates – Starting from Top of Helter Skelter by Hawk Chair
About the Race:
- Click the link above for Event Registration online, this temporarily reserves your registration and payment is needed to secure your spot. Payments are available online AFTER you are registered.
- Win 1 of 3 2021 Bike Park Season Passes we're giving away! All participants will be entered into a draw to win in their category. More fun prizes to be won! Stay tuned.
- Masks are mandatory on the course, and physical distancing will be maintained throughout including at the start and finish lines.
- Race Entry Fee $30 – For non Pass Holders, Lift Tickets are 30% off. You can purchase Saturday during plate pick up.
- No podium awards will take place to avoid gathering crowds. Prizing and results will be shared online.
UPDATES:
- Saturday registration from 4:00pm - 6:00pm has been moved to the ZipTour Centre. It is necessary for all racers to hand in their signed waiver and pick-up race plates on Saturday. No pick-up on Sunday will be allowed.
- If the racer can not be physically present Saturday, you may print and sign a coloured-waiver and designate a proxy to bring the physical signed copy up to the resort for you Saturday. If this applies to you, please send an email

- There will be NO race pits. Racers should plan on gearing up and performing bike maintenance at their vehicles.
- There will be NO spectating or gathering at the finish area.
- Racers are only to arrive at their specified start time
- Bike Park trails RipTide Ridge and No Pickles, as well as Helter Skelter. will be closed for training and during the race
- Discounted Lift Tickets are available at 30% off for racers who are not Season Pass Holders, available to purchase Saturday during plate pick-up.
- If you are experiencing issues paying the $30 race fee online, this can be done Saturday when you are signing your waiver and picking up your plate. Registration is still required online in advance.
