Womens Week

Enjoy this day package and special après all week long. A “Women Only” program taught and designed especially for women. Similar abilities are grouped into small groups. Join our team of coachs to meet new friends and re-visit old ones as they improve their skiing and riding technique. Package includes an all-day lift ticket, a women’s only clinic from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, and a delicious lunch. Includes après . Rental option also available. Clinics are available for all ability levels. Bookings required.

Colleen has been an lifelong Ski Instructor, Trainer and Coach with 30 years of experience. She and her family moved from Fernie, BC four years ago and now calls Beautiful Vancouver Island home. Based in the Canadian Rockies most of her career, she has also taught skiing in Europe and Japan and is currently working for the Canadian Ski instructors Alliance as the BC Regional Coordinator.

Colleen was also a Ski Canada Magazine “Ski Tester” for 15 years and will be doing the Tech Talk and Boot fitting session during Women’s Week.

Skiing and Mountain biking are her two favorite things to do and Mount Washington has both!!!

Morgan has been personal training, teaching group fitness and skiing for several years and has taught both in Canada and in Europe. She is a Certified Personal Trainer, retired college tennis player, current skier and Level 2 Ski Instructor at Mt. Washington Snow School and all around outdoor enthusiast.

While living in Germany and The Netherlands, Morgan taught fitness, nutrition and skiing in Switzerland and on the rolling dry slopes in the Netherlands.  She currently lives in the Comox Valley and teaches groups and individuals out of Crossfit Courtenay StrongHearts. 

Over the past 12 weeks she has programmed a ski fitness workshop and course at StrongHearts catering to all levels of skiers and boarders.

Leanne owns Studio IPF: Inner Pursuit Fitness in Courtenay and loves helping people realize the importance of living a healthy lifestyle, and showing them that exercise can actually be fun. She is a certified STOTT Pilates Matwork Instructor, a BCRPA Advanced Group Fitness Leader, a TRX Group FitnessTrainer, a certified BOSU Integrated Balance Trainer Instructor, and most recently completed her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training. 

Pre-Ski Body Light Up – Wednesday 8:30-9:15

In 45 minutes we'll get toasty from the inside out as we use movements from yoga, Pilates and fitness to help you connect to your posture and deep core muscles. Hit the slopes prepared mentally and physically and have an epic day! Please bring a yoga mat.

Tina is long time employee of Mount Washington and a group fitness instructor with Studio IPF in Courtenay where she leads a variety of classes including Bellyfit, Bellyfit Flow and Bootcamp. She is a BCRPA Group Fitness Leader. Bellyfit Flow is her newest format and is excited to share it with you at Women’s Week.

Meaghan Cursons is the coordinator for the Cumberland Community Forest Society and an in demand consultant who works with a variety of regional organizations including the Comox Valley Land Trust and Conservation Partnership, the CV Collective, the Elevate Arts Festival and the Downtown Courtenay BIA.

She is a high energy community builder who is passionate about building understanding about, and appreciation for, the natural systems that support our quality of life in the Comox Valley.

Meaghan will explore "thinking like a watershed" and discuss conservation efforts from Mountain Top to Ocean Shore and how citizens can make a different in protecting and celebrating the natural environment of the Comox Valley.

Dr Tracy Rodgers is an obstetrician gynaecologist practicing in Comox since 2008. She is originally from Newfoundland, and trained at Dalhousie university in Nova Scotia. She is a general gynaecologist and sees women from all stages of life for a wide variety of women's health concerns and has a special interest in menopause and sexual health.

She is located at The Women's Clinic in Courtenay at 280A England Ave.  Dr Rodgers is available by referral only. The clinic offers a self referral service for well woman exams and birth control with Dr Janis McCallum.

Snowschool Tips For Adults

1: Please have the following information available: birth date, accurate height, weight and shoe size of each person taking a lesson.
2: To ensure preferred date and times of lessons or program, pre-booking must be made 48 hours in advance to reserve.
3: Pre-booking lessons through Mount Washington call centre must be made 24 hours in advance, cut off is noon the day prior to lesson.

Helpful Tips

We have created lessons and programs with your needs and pace in mind. Our private or group lessons offer coaching with a maximum of 3-6 people of similar abilities. Terrain is chosen to fit your abilities. It is a great way to be introduced (or be reacquainted) with all the mountain has to offer. Our staff are top pros from around the world who speak a variety of languages.

So you've mastered the turn, now it's time to explore the mountain!

Great, now put those skills to the test! Mount Washington Alpine Resort provides a wide variety of groomed runs, off-piste areas and gladed trees for you to explore on snow!

Lesson Suggestions

The best way to experience your new sport is to learn from a professional instructor. At Mount Washington we have several options to get you on the slopes in a fun and supportive environment.

Group Sessions - Ski and Ride all over the mountain in a friendly and safe environment, exploring new terrain with a coach and your peers while developing new skills in a variety of terrain and conditions.

Private Lessons - Ski and Ride with a coach one on one, it's the best way to improve your skills.

Camps - From the Terrain Park, to powder and bumps, Mount Washington Snow School coaches will help you obtain peak personal performance.

Demo Equipment

With the fundamentals mastered, it's time to find the ski or board that's right for you. Visit our rental equipment centre in the Bradley Building or Mtn Tek to check out the latest technology in ski and snowboard gear. Our inventory of skis and boards cover a wide variety of options, from terrain parks to powder days, carving tools to backcountry boards. Remember you can Try-Before-You-Buy, demos are a great way to find that perfect match before committing cash to a specific ski or board. Give the experts a call: Explain your riding style and what you're looking for in a new setup. The friendly and knowledgeable rental equipment centre staff will set you up! You can reserve demo equipment (demos available online) ahead of time over the phone at (250) 338-1386. Make sure you have picture I.D. Buy your tickets at the rental equipment centre to save time.

Holidays and weekends can be very busy for demos. In order to ensure that you will spend more time on the hills we recommend reserving your demo equipment ahead of time by calling the rental equipment center at (250) 338-1386. By doing this you can drive up, pick up and head out.

Care & Repair of Your Equipment

It is important to take care of your equipment for optimal performance. Our knowledgeable technicians at Outdoor Elements can keep your equipment in top notch condition as well as repair base damage that may occur through use.

Best Times to Visit

If you have the flexibility, weekdays and/or nights are the best and most relaxing time to visit the mountain and practice your new skills.


Know the Safety Requirements and the "Your Responsibility Code".

As a developing skier or snowboarder, the temptation of untracked backcountry turns can be a powerful draw. This beautiful and pristine mountain environment deserves respect; please ensure that you are well versed in proper backcountry travel procedures before leaving the area.

More Helpful Hints

Be prepared to eat lunch at NON peak times, before 12 pm or after 1:30 pm. Take advantage of the empty slopes.

Visibility on foggy/snowy days is better near the edge of runs.

Properly tuned and waxed equipment will give you the most control and a better experience.

Arrive early for the freshest snow grooming and shortest walk from the parking lot.

Bring a lock to ensure that your gear is safe and secure while you take a break.

Be prepared for changing weather.
