Powderhorn Mountain Resort is a family-friendly, four-season resort with over 1600 acres of breathtaking beauty on the world’s largest flat top mountain. Located on the northern edge of Western Colorado’s beautiful Grand Mesa near Grand Junction, Powderhorn averages over 250 inches of light, dry Colorado powder each winter and boasts exceptional tree-skiing in the Rocky Mountains. Skiers and riders of all abilities enjoy the mountain’s two terrain parks and 42 trails, featuring over 70% beginner and intermediate terrain.
Located in British Columbia’s Thompson Okanagan region, SilverStar Mountain Resort is one of Canada’s top four-season mountain destinations. The resort offers 3,304 acres of skiable terrain, a 760-meter vertical drop, over 700 cm of annual snowfall, and a colorful, intimate village offering true slope-side lodging. In summer, SilverStar transforms into one of North America’s leading downhill bike parks. Just under an hour from Kelowna International Airport (YLW), SilverStar offers unmatched convenience and charm.
With some of the deepest natural snow totals in the region and a stunningly powerful snowmaking system covering 172 acres of varied terrain, Wisp Resort has slopes for everyone. From 26 acres of new gladed terrain to a new 14-acre area dedicated for beginner and novice skiers and snowboarders; from mogul runs, to terrain parks and smooth groomed runs for intermediate and advanced participants, Wisp keeps you smiling with all kinds of variety. Add all the winter adventures to the mix and there are outdoor activities to suit every style and taste.
British Columbia’s Vancouver Island is home to 800,000 people, British Columbia’s provincial capital, Victoria, and Mount Washington Alpine Resort (MWAR) which has grown to become one of the top ski areas in Canada. With a summit elevation reaching a mile above the nearby Pacific Ocean, 1,700 acres of ski terrain with 1,657 feet of vertical rise, and a historical average of approximately 457 inches of snow each year, the highest average of any ski area in Canada, Mount Washington Alpine Resort has been a must visit destination for snow sports enthusiasts for over 40 years.
When skiers think of floating down a mountain through airy white powder, they typically think of slopes in the western U.S. and Canada such as Colorado, Utah, and British Columbia. There’s only one place in the eastern part of the continent that gets that kind of snow – the same amount as Park City Mountain in Utah and Steamboat Resort in Colorado. That place is Jay Peak Resort which gets four feet more snow than the second-place mountain in the East and almost ten feet more than the third place contender.
Virginia’s premier four-season resort sits boldly on the spine of the Blue Ridge Mountains with commanding views stretching to the George Washington National Forest. With scenery every bit as breathtaking as the adjacent Shenandoah National Park, visitors to Wintergreen know even as they climb the entry that they have found a place of delight and intrigue. Wintergreen is a delight for the senses and an experience as fresh as the dogwoods and rhododendrons, which are ubiquitous there in spring.
