Dear Mount Washington Community,

To get right to it, we unfortunately won’t be opening as planned this Friday. Trust us, nobody is saying “WTF - What The Forecast?!” right now more than General Manager, Mike. If you watch the video, you know he’s literally holding the button to prove it.

Despite our team’s best efforts, snowmaking any chance we got and pushing around every patch Mother Nature has given us, the weather just hasn’t cooperated. If you were one of the 60,000+ people refreshing our webcams yesterday, watching and hoping for a miracle, we were right there with you. Mike is itching for a Hot Lap, and that day will come.

But for now—we're not throwing in the towel, because when the snow won’t show up yet, we know the Washy community always does. We’re still hosting Ted’s Funky Forecast Celebrations this Saturday. Plus, we’ll be gathering around the fire to inspire the snow gods…because if anyone can bring winter home to Vancouver Island, it’s ULLR, with a little extra encouragement from all of you. Come get amongst the good times.

WHAT'S HAPPENING ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 13TH:

• Ted’s Funky Forecast Celebration: 11 am to midnight! 
  • Get funky with us to encourage the forecast to deliver! 70's food, 70's prices with 100% chance of funk and soul. Rumour has it, shot-skis bring more snow...
  • Throwback menu items all for $4.99 or less! Bee Gees Burger & Fries, Fleetwood Mac & Cheese, The Chili Hendrix Experience, and more.
  • Live DJs from 3 pm until 12 am Featuring The Gaff and Civillian, plus Saskatoon Tod & Remi Rewind. Free entertainment to keep you dancing until late!
  • A free Shuttle Bus until 12:30 am to Courtenay and Cumberland. Courtesy of Vancouver Island Brewing!
  • Costume Contest for your chance to WIN a 6IXPAK of Lift Tickets! Any costume counts; dress your best to inspire the Snow Gods and Mother Nature to take notice.
• Firepit to Urge ULLR from 1 pm to 3 pm:
  • Join us outside Eagle View Bistro in front of the Alpine Lodge from 1 - 3pm for free s’mores, snow dances, and a few cheeky ceremonial sacrifices.
• Learn Free Discovery Days:
  • Stay tuned for another announcement tomorrow. We’re doing everything we can to open a beginner carpet for these lessons to continue!
• Resort Services Available:
  • Retail shops Outdoor Elements and Raven Retail will be open along with gear tuning services at The Demo Centre, Raven Cafe and Eagle View Bistro offering food and beverage, and the Season Pass office so you can get ready for when the snow flies.

So, the folks of Washy, we’re calling on you this weekend. Come up to the mountain and rally together to share a meal, shake a snow dance, and celebrate the community that makes this place so special. Help us show Mother Nature exactly what she’s missing, and just maybe we can convince her to get this winter party officially started...
