Vancouver Island Mountain Centre
The VIMC provides accommodation to organized mountain sports, school, youth, adult, senior, and special interest groups that are visiting Mt. Washington for a purpose. The VIMC is a non-profit entity that does not operate as a hostel and does not provide accommodation to individuals not associated with organized sporting, educational, or special interest groups.
They offer dorm-style accommodation for up to 40 people (Based on 4 person/room occupancy and one accessible double room). While one dorm room is designed as an accessible room all of the dorm rooms are wheel chair accessible.
Each room consists of 2 sets of bunk beds (except the accessible room which has 4 single beds) and wall hooks and clothing storage space. Kitchen use is also available for an additional cost.
Centre Accommodation Policies
The VIMC is not a hostel and cannot provide accommodation to individuals. All guests must check in and register at reception. All guests must check in and register at reception. A deposit of 25% is required to book accommodation and the total balance is due at check in. No unregistered guests are permitted within the VIMC facility. All youth groups must include a chaperone staying on site. Sporting equipment (skis, poles, boots, gloves, dirty hiking boots etc.) are not permitted in dorm rooms and must be stored in the provided locked drying room on the first floor. User groups are expected to leave dorm rooms in the condition they were in prior to their arrival. Guests are responsible for the cost of any cleaning (other than normal vacuuming and mopping) and damage or missing items (ex. linen, pillows). Check in time is 3pm and checkout is 11am.
Kitchen use is available.It is the responsibility of the user group to make sure the dishes they used are clean and placed back in their appropriate spot and all counters, cupboards and floors are clean upon their departure. Groups are responsible for the cost of any cleaning (other than normal vacuuming and mopping) and damage or missing items. It is also the responsibility of the user group to inquire if they are unsure of how to operate certain appliances in the kitchen.
The Vancouver Island Mountain Society is a non-profit organization that needs everyone's support to be successful. With your first program or accommodation booking (excluding Fitness Centre drop-ins) there will be a membership fee added to your total price. This yearly fee gives you and/or your group a membership in VIMSS, which supports local mountain sports athletes both through grants and subsidized access to the V.I. Mountain Centre.
